PHENOMENA 2011 Festive Showcase

  • SumoMe

The runway at Millennia Walk’s Great Hall shone with glitz and glam as models took to the runway in the fabulous art of 8 local fashion designers. The atmosphere was electrifying! These 8 handpicked designers from PARCO next NEXT unveiled their festive collections at the annual PHENOMENA 2011 festive showcase which is currently in its 3rd year.

Accompanying the impressive fashion down the runway was an equally fantastic selection of music which successfully translated each designer’s vision into stirring beats and rhythms, unique to their own. The work of Singapore’s creative but pleasantly modest designers did not disappoint!

Curated and styled by PARCO Next NEXT Project advisor, David Wang, this year’s festive showcase, themed “Borderless Fashion”, shone the spotlight on homegrown labels, A.K.A. Wayward, eve, JAUNTY BOYS, OwnMuse, Ready.Made, SOPHIELLE, Twenty2Seven and un-covered, in a celebration of colours and contrasts.

David Wang, who is also vice president of the Textile and Fashion Federation (Singapore) said “We’ve played around with contrasts between east and west, luxe and street, and threw in some fun twists in our styling and accessories to usher in the year-end period of merrymaking.” Also breaking borders were two up-and-coming labels from Japan, Nocturne #22 by Michiko Suzuki and ARIKI by Ryota Ariki, who showcased their Spring/Summer 2012 collections here, their first time outside Japan.

These are two of six Japanese labels that are being featured in 334-square-foot pop-up store, MAKE ONE’S MARK, which is the multi-label store concept of the RE.BIRTH Company, curated by Yuji Yamamoto. MAKE ONE’S MARK will be located at Level 2, P2-28, PARCO Marina Bay, Millenia Walk from 10 November to 26 December.

Our home grown fashion designers really do know their stuff. Just take a look at what they brought down the runway!
