Hot off the heels from Broadway 4 Suakus: You, Me & HDB, the creators of Chestnuts are restaging the charming musical comedy, H is for Hantu. For those not in the know, a Hantu is a demon or ghost.

Made for the whole family, H is for Hantu is filled with spooks, ingenious puppets created by puppeteer, Frankie Malachi and infectious music that the audience can sing a long with.

First staged in 2009 to rave reviews, H is for Hantu, has undergone a few changes with some added supernatural surprises. If you’ve not watched it before, the musical comedy is about Singapore’s last existing kampung, which, is about to be wiped out to make way for development, but not all the residents are willing to give up without a fight.

Catch feisty Sazali and his supernatural sidekicks – the sultry diva Pontianak and the light-headed but very gutsy Hantu Penanggalan – as they hatch a plan to convince the government to spare their kampung, they find themselves caught up in a chilling haunting that scares even these sassy spooks!

The cast includes Ghazali Muzakir as Sazali, a young kampung boy who has dead friends, Candice de Rozario as Miss P, a friendly penanggal who’s just looking for some body, and Jo Tan as Cik Pon, a pontianak with an unusual problem many would envy.

H is for Hantu opens today and runs until April 3 at Gallery Theatre, National Museum. Showtimes are at 3pm and 8pm.

Tickets at $35 from Sistic. Catch our interview with puppeteer, Frankie Malachi, next!
