Peaches in Singapore

  • SumoMe

Elementary school music and drama teacher, Merrill Beth Nisker, turned iconoclastic, self-produced high priestess of the dance electro punk movement, Peaches, is hitting our fair shores April 28, 2010 at Zirca.

Canadian-born but currently a Berlin resident, Peaches is a musician that has sought to educate and burn representations and clichés of sexuality, gender roles and power issues. Where The Teaches of Peaches was about the self, Fatherfucker was about questioning gender norms and equality; Impeach My Bush continued to question power structures through the medium of sex, delivered with her innovative trademark electro-rock cannon.

Her sound has made its way to mainstream media to the likes of Love Actually, The L Word, Ugly Betty and Victoria’s Secret. Peaches even inspired Kate Moss to sport a beard on the cover of V Mag.

Irreverent and vulgar (only she can pull off a performance with a large inflatable penis between her legs) her live shows are over the top, unique and rock-worthy par excellence, as seen from Australia’s Big Day Out to Coachella held in the USA and definitely not for the faint of heart.

Peaches toured I Feel Cream throughout 2009 and has now embarked on her upcoming tour through China, Macau, Taiwan, Indonesia and Singapore.

For more information on Peaches head on over to her site and myspace.

Here are the deets to check her out in action:
