Got time for a quick fashion fix? We give you a quick rundown of the fashion WOWs and WTHs at this year’s red carpet at the Oscar Awards.
This year’s women seem to be riding the textured trend. From sparkle and sequins to pleats and ruffles, it seems Hollywood’s rich, famous and (mostly) glamorous are turning up the volume. Va Va Voom , anyone?
WOW: I’ve never quite liked Miley Cryus for all her controversy and probably also the fact that the radio stations have played her songs so much I recognise them from subconscious memory, but my word, look at her now. Her dress has old world charm but a freshness that is befitting of her age (she’s just 18)!
WOW: At the ripe age of 48, Demi Moore is still a total goddess. While bronzed/beige colours are usually a sure way to wash you out, Demi pulls it off with an elegance that is hard to match. Bagging Ashton Kutcher and looking that hot? Some people get all the luck!
WOW: Carey Mulligan does the glamorous pixie look by adding a little twist on the black dress ensemble. She’s got a little bit of spunk and a whole lot of sophistication – clearly a fashion player to watch!
WTH: Dear Charlize Theron, you are rather hot as evidenced here and here, so why did you go and do this? Women know where they are (we have them too) and men know where they are (believe you me), so really you don’t have to advertise ‘em , especially not with rosettes!
WTH: Zoe Saldana’s costume (that’s what it is because make no mistake, it’s no gown) is an example of two major life lessons gone wrong. #1 Never settle for less: as you survey the dress from top-to-bottom you think,” Hmm nice, oh, okay I can accept that, and finally full-on WTH?” #2 Sometimes too much is too much.
WTH: Vera Farmiga (Running Scared, The Departed) picked out a colour that is gorgeous when put against her pale complexion but the OTT cascading ruffles aren’t sweeping anyone of their feet (except onto the floor, rolling with laughter).
