Kenzo Homme, 2010-2011 Fall FashionOff the runway and onto the streets of Paris, models paraded in Kenzo fall couture around Paris’ Place des Victoires as futuristic Citroen DSs jostled and spun around them.

Like a scene from legendary French filmmaker Jacques Tati’s 1971 movie “Traffic”, designer Antonia Marras wanted to recreate Tati’s perspective: ¬†full of joy and amazement, almost child-like.

Kenzo Homme, 2010-2011 Fall FashionThe show-stopping collection was steeped in a 50’s aesthetic and built around his favoured styles of tight jackets, high-water trousers and argyle socks in zany hues. Strutting down the boutique where the show was held, models wore chunky cardigans, smart printed ties and cropped pants, topped off with fedoras and oversized totes or umbrellas.

Culminating in a surprise that Jacques Tati would certainly approve off, models spilled out of the boutique and walked in circles around the centre of the plaza, as cars continued to swerve around them with faux gendarmes in period costume directing traffic. True to form, Kenzo delivered a grand show to kick the year off with a bang.
