Colbie CaillatBreakthrough singer/songwriter sensation Colbie Caillat collected her first ever Grammy nominations 2 Dec, Wednesday evening. Gathering four of the coveted nods, the list of honours includes nominations for “Best Pop Vocal Album” for her acclaimed 2009 album Breakthrough, and two nominations in the “Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals” category, for her duet with Taylor Swift for “Breathe” and her acclaimed effort with Jason Mraz on the smash hit “Lucky.”  Colbie also picked up a prestigious “Album Of The Year” nomination for her contributions on Taylor Swift’s hit album Fearless which features their multi-nominated duet “Breathe”.

Colbie was in attendance as part of a live television special announcing the nominations, The Grammy Nominations Concert Live – Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night, which aired on CBS.  “I want to thank all my fans and the Grammy Academy for this great honor,” stated Colbie.  “The incredible encouragement and support of my fans these past few years has meant the world to me.  It’s truly an honor to be considered among all the wonderful artists nominated tonight.”

The nominations cap another incredible year for Colbie.  Her second album, Breakthrough was released in August to rave reviews, debuting at #1 on Billboard Top Album Charts and the ultra-competitive iTunes Album Chart, making Caillat one of the few female artists to have both her debut and follow-up albums open at #1 on the popular digital music destination.  Her first single from the album, “Fallin’ For You,” has become a multi-format radio staple, currently holding down the # 1 spot on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary Chart.

After being universally hailed as one of the most talented artists to come out of the digital social networking landscape in 2007, Colbie’s “Bubbly” became smash at virtually every radio, video and online platform imaginable.  The song became one of the best selling digital tracks of all time, with COCO becoming one of the most enduring digital albums in music history.

Colbie has been nominated for a host of honors throughout her career, including an American Music Award and Teen Choice Awards, as well as being named a Billboard ‘Rising Star,’ and chosen for VH1’s “You Oughta Know.” The prestigious Grammy nominations affirm the singer/songwriter’s place as music’s first global and top-ranking myspace phenom.

The 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 31st, 2010.
