France’s latest musical export, Sliimy, has often been dubbed France’s Mika.
Like Mika he is flamboyant and a little eccentric. He also has the voice of “a sad English woman”, says Jon Dolan of Rolling Stone.
Sliimy’s folky cover of Britney Spear’s “Womanizer” landed him a deal with Perez Hilton’s recording label. He is also promoted extensively on Perez’s blog which everyone loves to hate.
Sliimy sings about various subject matters, but has said that his music has “a childish element, mixed with irony.” Think Lily Allen singing about pimps and crack whores to cutesy, sing along tunes.
If you’re into breezy tunes about anorexia and the demise of a mother created from old New Wave melodies, you should definitely spin “Paint Your Face”.
