Since Ris Low gave up her title as Miss Singapore World, the search for a new face with a whole new set of oratorical skills, to repre
sent Singapore in the Miss World 2009 has been on.
So, who’s it going to be?
Pilar Arlando, 19, second runner-up in the contest organised by ERM World has graciously stepped up to the plate to represent Singapore in the international beauty pageant held in South Africa on 12 December. The caramel-skinned Eurasian beauty who stands at 1.68m is a hospitality student at MDIS.
The Miss Singapore World 2009 pageant held on 31 July was steeped in controversy following the judges’ decision to crown Low. Singaporeans were divided with regards to Low’s standard of English. When the media got wind of her credit card fraud case, she decided it best for her to relinquish her title.
More attention of the wrong kind was garnered by the contest as runner-up Claire Lee was accused by Low of outing her fraud case, leading to Lee’s refusal to take her place as next in line to the crown.
From Penny to Pilar, thanks for rising above cattiness and being so fearless in a time of immense pressure. Do us proud, girl!

I mean seriously, Ris Low? or even Claire? it is a shock, an outrage if u will, that they got chosen over Pilar. So finally after a few years of crap, we have a beauty representing us that HAS nice, big eyes.. who HAS a nose that actually VISIBLY sticks out of her face.. who HAS a nice figure.. who HAS a nice smile.. who CAN speak well.. (juz HAD to put that in) for once, we stand a chance.. SO THANK U TO THE HEAVENS..
