Remembering Patrick Swayze who boogied into our hearts.

Patrick SwayzeAfter filling us with the urge to dance and to get in touch with our romantic side – Patrick Swayze, 57, died after 20 months of battling 4th stage pancreatic cancer yesterday, with his family by his side.

Swayze had learnt of his deadly diagnosis in March 2008 and kept on working despite of that. The ruggedly-handsome actor with his beautiful blond locks was the star of pop culture films Dirty Dancing and of course Ghost; where we all loved that achingly sweet pottery scene with Demi Moore and the strains of Unchained Melody.

Versatile with his craft, the three-time Golden Globe nominee was also a singer-songwriter and talented dancer who had studied with the Feld, Joffrey and Harkness Ballets. He had also taken to the stage, acting in musicals such as Grease, Chicago and Guys and Dolls. Swayze even managed to make a dress look good with his role as drag queen, Vida Boheme in To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything.

Patrick Swayze was born in 1952 in Houston and was married since 1975 to Lisa Niemi, a dancer who took lessons with his choreographer mother, Patsy Swayze. They have no children.
