With Singapore being the first country to host a night race, you can expect lots more hype in the days leading up to the Singtel Singapore Grand Prix, 27 September 2009.

A preview by Penny K

An event that’s borrowing some of the F1 hype is the “F1 Rocks”, a series of concerts by international performing artistes held over beyonceREX1407_450x435a span of 3 days (24 – 26 September). Some of the bigger names are Beyonce, No Doubt, Black Eyed Peas and N*E*R*D. Others you may know are Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung and Taiwanese singer A-Mei. One to watch out for is an up and coming Taiwanese hip hop group called Da Mouth, it has been intriguingly dubbed “Black Eyed Peas of Asia”.

Since each of the three days features about three groups, we imagine you might expect to catch only a glimpse of you favourite artistes which will keep you wanting more. If you don’t want to pay for that sliver of their show time, go here and stand to win a pair of Golden Tickets (read: not to be confused with those for entry into Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory). nodoubt

At Fort Canning Park, Singapore. Various prices. Tickets available at Sistic.

Update: Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls who has pulled out of her hosting stint at the F1 Rocks in lieu of her breakup with F1 driver Lewis Hamilton has been replaced by Lindsay Lohan.

Word has it that it may be because Lohan’s girlfriend DJ Samantha Ronson is also headed Eastward to spin at the Fuel Festival at Novus.
