There’s something so haunting yet so awfully comforting about these pictures. Heavily laden with deep history, each WWII photograph taken in Normandy, 1944, relates to us interlacing stories of death, loss, tears, victory, strength and camaraderie.
It’s agonising to imagine what had happened in the past but the truth is, those broken stories and courageous sacrifices liberated societies and gave people reason to say that they will, because they can. So here’s to freedom, dreams and relentless determination.
